MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's premier bibliographic
database covering the fields of medicine, clinical medicine,
nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system,
and the preclinical sciences. The MEDLINE file contains bibliographic
citations and author abstracts from current biomedical journals
published in the United States and 70 foreign countries. Coverage
is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources
or have English abstracts. Some chapters and articles from
selected monographs are found in earlier years. Journal articles
are indexed for MEDLINE, and their citations are searchable,
using the National Library of Medicine's controlled vocabulary,
MeSH (Medical Subject Headings).
